Shopping at the supermarket

This is a module for primary school students with the aim to familiarize them with vocabulary related to shopping and enhance it. This module aims to make students able to navigate a supermarket, become aware of the different sections of it and learn where foods come from. Shopping at such a place is an everyday activity so it is important that students be able to recognise lexical items and get involved in associated transactions.
Objectives
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- categorize various products into fresh produce, meat, poultry, dairy
- ask directions in order to find a product and undestand the answers
- discuss their shopping habits
- create a shopping list

Create a shopping list
In this module students familiarize with lexical items related to supermarket products. They navigate a supermarket and its various sections. They also communicate inside the supermarket through dialogues and they talk about their shopping habits and finally create their own shopping list.
To-do list in this Module:
1. Flip through pictures 1-7 (under documents) and share your ideas in the Brainstorming Forum.
2. There is a powerpoint presentation PRODUCTS to get to familiarize with various products at the supermarket. Download and do the activities FruitWordSearch, HiddenVegetables, personalproducts. Also do Tasksheet 1
3. Watch Video1 (see links), read dialogues and create another one with your own ideas. Tasksheet2
