Four seasons and the weather

Description

This lesson is dedicated to introduce a class of A1+ students to the topics of season and weather conditions. This will be executed through a series of questions, worksheets, videos, role play and other materials.

AIMS

  • familiarize learners with topic related vocabulary
  • students are able to understand simple conversations about weather and participate in them
  • they are comfortable participating in a role play
  • they activate and apply previous knowledge wherever it is needed (e.g. when completing a worksheet)

The course is split in two parts. Firstly we have the topic of the four seasons and later the weather conditions

Units

In this part we are going to be making an introduction to the topic by asking learners what do they know about the seasons and the weather. After they give possible answers I will provide all four seasons on the board and have them noter it on thes notebooks. Then I will ask them to talk about their favourite season and why. Lastly I will hand out a worksheet in which they have to choose the correct option, but is also a way to transit on our next topic. In the second part i am going to show them a picture that contains many types of weather and have the students write what each term means in their notebook. After that I will hand out a worksheet where they have to choose the correct answer. This can be found in the document section under the title: weather worksheet. After the completion of that task The students are going to be watching two videos, one is a discussion and the other one is a weather forecast. Both links can be found at the link section respectively.

In the last part of this course the learnes are firstly asked to perform a discussion in a for of  a role-play exersice. The teachers divedes them in pairs of 2 or 3 and assigns them with a type os season or general weather condition she wants them to perform. Leaners are expected to perform this task in a simple way due to to their CEFR level of competence. After completing this task comes the last part of the assessment in which learners are asked to take a quiz on their own. Quiz can be found in the file named exercises under the title: quiz!!!
